Dreamhack Summer: A look Back At RDU’s Decks

Today we’re going to look at the grand finals winner of Dreamhack Summer, RDU, and his winning decks. Dreamhack Summer was a great event for Hearthstone which was unfortunately tarnished by some idiots on RDU’s friends list. Controversy aside, RDU won the event and these are the deck lists he used.

Freeze Mage
The Freeze Mage – the deck that is seeing lots of ladder play now after he completely destroyed Amaz in the finals with this deck. The funny thing is, this deck didn’t do so well in the rest of the tournament and only saw real success in the finals. The freeze mage is a tough deck to play as it’s all about being patient and also being a bit lucky as you need certain cards at the right time to pull it off. You need to be able to save your burn for your opponent, you need Alexstraza to get your opponent to 15 to finish them off turn 10 or 11. To get to that point you need to not only freeze your opponent’s minions from attacking you but also hopefully get an Ice Block to extend you one extra turn to finish off your opponent.

Needless to say though, the deck has rejuvenated interest in mage and made it at least somewhat viable again.

RDU Freeze Mage
Class: Mage
Cards sorted by Low Cost

Mage (21)

•Ice Lance x2
•Mirror Image x2
•Frostbolt x2
•Arcane Intellect x2
•Frost Nova x2
•Ice Barrier
•Ice Block x2
•Vaporize
•Fireball x2
•Blizzard x2
•Flamestrike x2
•Pyroblast

Neutral (9)

•Bloodmage Thalnos
•Doomsayer x2
•Loot Hoarder x2
•Acolyte of Pain x2
•Azure Drake
•Alexstrasza

Midrange Shaman
Probably the most unique deck played in the top 4 after Amaz’s Priest deck. It’s a variation of the midrange shaman decks but it doesn’t use Unbound Elemental. The deck has staples such as Earth Shock, Lightning Bolt, Flametongue Totem, Feral Spirit, Hex, Lighting Storm, and Fire Elemental. It relies on controlling the board early and getting some of your heavy hitters out there to beat down your opponent. If you can combo Rockbiter Weapon with Al’Akir or Doomhammer then your opponent is going to have a bad time.

RDU Shaman
Class: Shaman
Cards sorted by Low Cost

Shaman (20)

•Earth Shock x2
•Lightning Bolt x2
•Rockbiter Weapon x2
•Flametongue Totem x2
•Feral Spirit x2
•Hex x2
•Lava Burst
•Lightning Storm x2
•Mana Tide Totem
•Doomhammer
•Fire Elemental x2
•Al'Akir the Windlord

Neutral (10)

•Argent Squire x2
•Bloodmage Thalnos
•Harvest Golem x2
•Chillwind Yeti
•Defender of Argus
•Azure Drake x2
•Argent Commander
Miracle Rogue

Oh look, it’s a miracle rogue deck. If you haven’t seen this by now then you haven’t played a single game of Hearthstone. Go download Hearthstone and play a game, now you know how this deck works as you watched your opponent draw and play about 20 cards while you sat there and read War and Peace.

RDU Miracle Rogue
Class: Rogue
Cards sorted by Low Cost
Rogue (22)
•Backstab x2
•Preparation x2
•Shadowstep x2
•Cold Blood
•Conceal
•Deadly Poison x2
•Blade Flurry
•Eviscerate x2
•Sap x2
•Shiv x2
•Fan of Knives
•Edwin VanCleef
•SI:7 Agent x2
•Assassin's Blade

Neutral (8)

•Bloodmage Thalnos

The Greatest Hearthstone Comeback Ever

In a match this weekend, a player manages to mount an amazing comeback over an opponent with multiple Legendaries on the table.
Down to two health and two armor against a player with multiple Legendaries on the board, it looked like prolific streamer Trump was doomed. Then Frost Mage magic happened.

Through a stunning combination of stalling, missteps from his opponent, the right cards and plain old dumb luck, Trump managed to pull off a win so dramatic the normally calm and collected player actually gets a little crazy.

Over at Gaming Blend they're calling this possibly the greatest Hearthstone comeback ever, but it's more of an amazing stall. He knew the cards he needed were in his deck — he just had to dance around Ragnaros' random eight points of damage to line them up. Still incredibly dramatic, and an excellent example of why trading card games are so damn lovable. Well, you can check out the game video if you are interested. By the way, we highly recommend you choose Hearthstone Legend Rank at our site!

New Card Unveiled – Webspinner

The final class specific Curse of Naxxramas card has been unveiled, and Hunters have about 25 different reasons to be excited. Webspinner, a 1/1 spider beast draws its owner a random beast upon dying. According to Senior Game Designer Ben Brode, this can be any non-token beast. We’ve counted 25 different options, all the way up to King Krush. It’s important to note that, again. This is any beast, not what you have in your deck. This card functions very similarly to the Warlock spell Bane of Doom, except that it’ll actually probably be used. Sorry, Bane of Doom.

It’s impossible to immediately know where this card will fit, but looks pretty versatile. It likely won’t replace Stonetusk Boar, as that beast has the specific role of interacting with Hunter’s Mark, but it should find a home somewhere. Who doesn’t want to roll the dice on drawing a Savannah Highmane or King Krush? Head over to this professional site to buy Hearthstone Legend Rank.

The Analysis of Dark Cultist

Blizzard released a new minion of Priest – Dark Cultist. This minions looks not bad, here let’s talk about what he can bring for the Priest.

About the Body

The body 3/3/4 is excellent, which is likely to realize 1 trade 2. And the deathrattle effect make it has higher survive rate. Why? Here is an example:

At turn 3, the cards that can knock him out are: Rogue’s Eviscerate, Hunter’s Deadly Shot, Warlock’s Shadowbolt, and Shaman’s Lava Burst, however, given his deathrattle effect, it’s not a good choice to kill him when he has friendly minions on board. Therefore, in other word, the deathrattle effect makes his friendly minions be soft taunts, unless he is silenced.

About the Cooperation

It’s well known that Priest has a great AoE combo: Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing. Usually, after playing this combo at turn 4, there is only the 3/1 Auchenai Soulpries left on board, which makes her be killed easily in the next turn. In this case, if the Dark Cultist is on board before you playing this combo, the Auchenai Soulpriest will gain +3 health, so that she has higher survive rate in the next turn.

Besides, for a Priest deck with Divine Spirit + Inner Fire combo, Dark Cultist is a great help to create a big monster. Well, any other combos for this new minion? Just share with us.

Hearthstone Mulligan Guide

Hearthstone is a two-player competitive card guide based very loosely around the characters and combat of World of Warcraft. Each card in the game has an associated mana cost. Players should make full use of every weak card at the start of the game. Here is the Hearthstone Mulligan guide for you:

Before the game itself begins each player is presented with their starting cards, but at this point you can choose to keep or throw away as many of these cards as you wish, and have new cards replace those you discard.

This "Mulliganing" process ensures you have at least some degree of control over how you begin each game.

With experience you'll learn which cards are best to keep against specific classes, but as a general rule it's important to make sure you have plenty of low cost minions and spells to begin each game with. It might feel nice to have that beefy turn six minion securely in your hand, but it's no good if you've lost control of the board entirely by the time you can play it.Hearthstone Legend Rank

To succeed with the majority of the free decks we've included in this guide, it's essential that you Mulligan aggressively, and prioritise playing those low-cost minions which also draw an extra card for you when they hit the board. The tools at your disposal are weak compared to opponents with bigger card libraries, so you need to draw as many options as you can while maintaining some kind of presence on the board.

We highly recommend you take the Hearthstone Arena key sale at this store into consideration, you will not be disappointed about your choices!

Big Game Hunter – The Hitman

The Big Game Hunter is the natural enemy of those big minions with attack >=7, such as the popular minions: Ragnaros, Molten Giant, Mountain Giant, and Alexstrasza etc.

Well, the Big Game Hunter can also shoot down those minions with attack less 7, as long as you play some cards to cooperate with him. Hearthstone Legend Rank

For example, if there is an enemy Ancient of Lore on board, you can play the Abusive Sergeant / Dark Iron Dwarf to give it +2 attack, and then shoot it down with the Big Game Hunter.

The Big Game Hunter can also cooperate with some expert cards.
Warrior -- Inner Rage / Cruel Taskmaster + Big Game Hunter
Rogue – Cold Blood + Big Game Hunter
Druid – Mark of the Wild + Big Game Hunter
Hunter – Bestial Wrath + Big Game Hunter (Kill a beast like the Savannah Highmane.)

Congrats To Radu – Winner of DreamHacker Summer

Radu "Rdu" Dima is the Summer Hearthstone champion at DreamHack. The Romanian went 5-1 in series, going through Darkwonyx, Ek0p, Reynad and Amaz to bank the $10,000 check, the biggest in professional Hearthstone to date.

After being undefeated on Rogue the entire tournament, Romanian underdog Rdu chose a different deck for the most important match in his career. Instead of the Valeera craziness, Rdu opened with a Frost Mage as if only to test the waters but ended up going on a three-win spree, which handed him the championship.

No one really expected the Frost deck to do so well, least of all Rdu's opponent Amaz. Although considered a build that's on the rise, Mage was 1-4 before the final series, which made its triumph even more impressive. Rdu's Jaina performed excellently against Amaz's Druid, Hunter and Priest, making for a very short and explosive final.

Still, a single black spot tainted the otherwise enjoyable tournament, as Rdu started to receive lots of messages from his Battle.net friends, one of those even spilling out part of Amaz's hands. Obviously a huge problem, the tournament had to be delayed so that both Amaz and Rdu could clear their friends list. Additionally, after careful consideration, DreamHack admins allowed Rdu to retain his game two win as the "cheating" wouldn't really change the outcome of the match.

Rdu's 3-0 brings him a fat check of $10,000, leaving half of that to Liquid's Amaz. After going against a slew of tournament favorites and highly ranked names, Rdu's victorious run puts him on top of the GosuRankings, just three points above StrifeCro. You can buy Hearthstone Legendary Rank here!

You Must Have 5 Craft Neutral Hearthstone Cards

There are a lot of cards in Hearthstone. It can be difficult to know which ones to craft with your hard earned dust, especially in the beginning. Do you save up for a legendary or try and craft more accessible cards in order to build up decent library? The best option may be grabbing up the basics, specifically cards that hold value across multiple decks.

There's no ranking behind these cards, so grab them up in whatever order you see fit. All of them have strengths and weaknesses, which we'll list below:

Argent Squire: 40 dust. It is a fantastic choice for early game aggression, tokens, and even a couple of midrange decks, and is absolutely worth crafting for 40 dust.

Ironbeak Owl: 40 dust. This card can honestly be run in just about any deck, no matter what your agenda. At 40 dust, expect to see a lot of value out of this bird.

Wild Pyromancer: 100 dust.  This card will run you 100 dust per copy, but don't let the price scare you off. It's a totally worthwhile investment.

Harvest Golem: 40 dust. Harvest Golem helps you by tying up your opponent's resources and early turns. It can be run in a lot of different setups, and is a great default three drop to use when you're trying to build your own decks. Definitely stop by Westfall and grab this mechanical menace when you have 40 dust.

Defender of Argus: 100 dust. If you have minions, you can run Defender of Argus. Paladins and shamans get even more value out of this card because they can generate their own creatures via their hero powers and buff them up. This is especially brutal when your opponent is not counting on your Stoneclaw Totem being able to do one damage.

Hearthstone Game Mode Guide

Beyond the Practice mode, which allows you to test out decks against rather primitive AI, there are three key Play modes in Hearthstone.

Ranked
Hearthstone's ranking system currently resets at the beginning of each month. As a new player you will be ranked at 25, after which point you earn stars for each game you win. Gain enough stars and you move up to the next rank. Once you reach Rank 19, it's possible to lose stars and gradually fall back down the rankings, although it's impossible to ever fall below Rank 20 once you've achieved it. This provides a protective buffer for new players.

At the end of each monthly season, your current ranking is recorded and you'll receive any rewards you're entitled to for your performance and for participating in that season. When the new season starts, you'll start again at a new rank somewhere just below where you finished up in the previous season.

Casual
The Casual mode of Hearthstone works in a very similar fashion to the Ranked mode, except there are no penalties or rewards for winning, beyond the 10 Gold you receive for every three matches you win (see our Hearthstone Gold guide for more on this). People typically play in Casual to finish off daily quests without affecting their season ranking, to experiment with new decks for the same reason, or simply to practice playing some tried and tested favourites from the internet.

There are juicy rewards to be had from a successful run in Hearthstone's Arena mode.

Arena's a very different beast compared to the other two modes. First, you have to choose one of three randomly selected Heroes. Once you've picked your class, you then have to build your deck by selecting one of three class-specific or neutral cards that the game randomly selects for you. After you've made your choice, a new set of three cards is presented to you. This process is repeated until you have 30 cards in your deck.

Once you're ready to go you'll be matched up with other Arena players, and gameplay proceeds as usual - although you're limited to using the deck you just created. Arena runs end when you lose your third match, and your rewards are based on how many victories you managed to get under your belt before suffering your final loss.
Regardless of how well or how badly you perform, you'll receive a pack of cards to open just for participating, as well as a chance to receive another random card from the game's collection. You'll also receive quantities of Gold and crafting dust which scale with the number of victories you achieved during your run.

You're given a free token to enter the Arena once when you start playing the game, but subsequent visits will cost you either 150 Gold or £1.49. If you can average seven wins in an Arena run, you'll likely make this Gold cost back. Even if you can't manage this kind of win ratio Arena's still a very economical way to play the game, as you're guaranteed to receive a card pack worth 100 Gold as well.

Note that you have to go through the Hero and deck selection process all over again whenever you start a new Arena run.

Blizzard Offers Some Hearthstone Tips

Maybe you've been playing some Hearthstone while waiting for the next World of Warcraft expansion to actually be a thing. That's not a difficult prospect if you're used to card games, but it's going to throw you for several loops if you haven't played them before. Senior designer Mike Donais has penned a new article full of tips for new players on how to build and play a new deck that can hold its own.

Veteran card game players will probably already be familiar with most of the fundamentals -- start with a theme, have early-game cards, play with plenty of minions -- but it's all good advice. It also offers some suggestions for cards worth building around whether you want a fast and aggressive deck or a slow controlling force. Check out the full article on the official site for a few ways to improve and refine your deck, hopefully making you that much more formidable on the ground. Delete or Add? Suggestions for You

1. Shieldbearer, this card can perfectly protect the attendants, like cooperate with Flametougue in disrupting battlefields and like, at least cost 4 life value. Obviously, it is much better than Argent Squire who will be killed by dagger easily on confronting against Miracle Thief!

2. One Flametougue, this set of cards mainly stand in the filed, not pursue output. The capability of Flametougue station is not so good, and it frequently happens that there is no nothing in the fields which makes you embarrassed with a Flametougue in your hand. Why not join Catcher which is 0/4 outrange in the battlefield.

3. Not add Mana Tide. Although it will not lose, it is quite weak, and easy to be gone. It is not worth that costing too much to get one or two cards.

4. Add one Forked Lightning. With various strong creatures, it can well clear the area, and can suffer overload, so it is definitely valuable.

Here are just some suggestions, we will keep updating and modifying! By the way, if you are interested in Hearthstone Arena key, you can click here to find many!

How Hearthstone Beginners Get More Cards

Getting each Hero in the game to level 10 takes very little time and will give you access to all of that class's basic cards. You'll also have a pool of primitive, class-neutral cards to take advantage of. To increase your collection, you have a few options.
Buying packs
You can buy packs of cards from the store for 100 Gold each, or multiple packs of cards for real money. Each pack contains five Expert level cards from the game, and you're guaranteed at least one Rare-rated card as well. Note that the contents of each pack is randomly determined, and you may well receive duplicates for your collection.

Crafting
You can destroy cards you don't want - or are duplicates - using a process called Disenchanting. You'll receive a certain amount of crafting dust for doing so, the amount of which depends on the card's value. You can then use the dust you accumulate to craft another card that's missing from your collection.

Just be aware that you typically only receive half the dust for destroying a card that you would need if you wanted to craft it again. As a result, you should think very carefully before turning a card into dust!

Hearthstone Card Guide For Beginners

Hearthstone's cards are split into a series of tiers. The basic free cards can be unlocked by all players very quickly, while the Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary cards need to be crafted or discovered in packs purchased from the game store. The more powerful the card, the more expensive it is to craft.

While there are many flavours of cards within each group, they can all broadly be split into three different categories: minion cards, spell cards and weapon cards.

Minion
Minion cards allow you to place combat characters on your side of the game board. The number on the left-hand side of the card represents the amount of damage the minion can do each turn, while the number on the right represents its health. Unlike other card games, each minion's health is not restored at the end of each turn, and the minion is destroyed for good once its health reaches zero.

Unless the card description states that the minion has Charge, you also can't make use of the creature until your next turn. If the minion has something called Taunt, it will act as a defensive barrier that your opponent's minions will have to bust through before they can attack your Hero. If the minion has a Battlecry, the effect described on the card occurs as soon as you play it onto the board.

Spell
Spell cards come in a number of flavours but the most common are area-of-effect (AOE), removal, direct damage and buffs. AOE spells deliver a typically small amount of damage to multiple enemies, removal spells eliminate or drastically weaken a single minion, and direct damage spells deliver a big dollop of damage to a single target. Buff spells allow you to increase the health or attack of a friendly minion, or severely weaken an opponent's.

Weapon
Weapon cards equip your Hero with a weapon that can be used to directly attack minions or the opposing Hero. Instead of health, weapons have a durability number that indicates how many times it can be used before it breaks and disappears. Weapons can generally only be used once per turn and while there are many weapons in Hearthstone, individual weapons are often Hero-specific cards. Weapons can also have Battlecry effects, such as dealing damage when you equip them or restoring a small amount of health when you attack.

Realize the Mana Addict Dream : Turn 3 OTK

Some player with game ID ChronicRhynois chasing the Mana Addict Dream – Turn 3 OTK of Shaman. To realize this dream, you need to go second, and have to get a Windfury, 2*Rockbiter Weapon and a Mana Addict in hand. The process is as follows.

Turn 2 – Play Mana Addict (Survive to the next turn and unsilenced.)
Turn 3 – The Coin + Windfury + 2*Rockbiter Weapon on Mana Addict = 15*2 damage

Besides, it requires the opponent don’t have armor, otherwise, you can’t realize OTK in turn 3.

Therefore, in order to realize this dream, you need some luck. ChronicRhyno have yet to successfully achieve this dream, however, this combo is easy to happen at the late game.

Key Cards Group Help You Go Through Early Period

Ancient Watchers: Telegraph pole is quite useful in the group, not only can frame a wall or be eaten, but also can join the owls to break the silence.

Void Terror: it can use dead language to create advantages, and it can cooperate with others in the group.
Nu Guardian/Agus Defenders: There is nothing better than putting a 12/12 Void Terror in the filed. Perhaps he is a taunt, or it is hiding behind other ironic, which can create much potential value. Unless he can face speedy attack, ridiculing at evening is the best.

Earthen Ring Farseer: Being back to 3 blood 33 body can cope with many servants with 3 or below. It will help you get into the later period.

Sen'Jin Slow Defenders: This slow and stable card is important for speedy attack. Putting the Boss behind him instead of being forced to frame boss is a good choice. After all, the black rides are a little bit many.

Molten Giant: I hate zoos. It is hard to control when drop to 10 blood in round 5 or 6. Sunfury Protector lifting up 1 (best 2) giants can win. This could be considered to be hand warlock variants but in fact some unpredictable play methods.

The Contrast Between Viodcaller and Alarm-o-Bot

1. Viodcaller has a better figure than Alarm-o-Bot, which is important. The weakness of Alarm-o-Boat being in silence is 03 whiteboard, and that has no value. However, Voidcaller being a silence figure is also 3 whiteboard. The loss is not so large. It is true that 3or 4 figure is good, and hitting entourage below 3 is advantageous.

2. Viodcaller is easier to trigger than Alarm-o-Bot. Alarm-o-Boat will not be triggered until the next round start, but the Viodcaller can be touched off as long as died. It is worth mentioning that Viodcaller can be forced to pull monster when necessary, and then we will see who is stronger at one glance.

3. Viodcaller is much freer. Because it is death trigger, so if you are killed in the opposite’s round pull devil, immediately you can use demonic attack the opponent. If you kill initiatively kill the monster in your own round, you can call up all the small monsters in advance. The Alarm-o-Boat pulls monsters at the beginning of round. So Viodcaller is much more practical.

4. Vioacaller can only call up demons, but Alarm-o-Boat can call any followers including many strong neutral orange. The restriction of Viodfcaller is also quite disadvantageous.

New Warlock Card for Curse of Naxxramas – Voidcaller

This evening, Blizzard posted a new class card from the Curse of Naxxramas set that is due out this summer. This time for the Warlock class is the Voidcaller, a 4 mana cost 3/4 minion with (you guessed it!) a Deathrattle that puts a demon from you hand. Like the quote from Blizzard says, this card has quite a number of possibilities in play, with the amount of demons that have negative battlecry’s this could be an exceptionally powerful card. It will interesting to see how it plays out when it’s released. With the release of this card we only have two class cards remaining to be revealed, the Hunter and Priest.

Hearthstone: Sen'jin Shieldmasta

The Sen'jin Shieldmasta is a textbook example of a card that's incredibly strong despite being available to everyone. This four mana taunt creature is the bane of more aggressive decks because it boasts five toughness and often requires the sacrifices of multiple minions or spells to get it off the board. It's not just an answer to aggressive decks, however. The favorable distribution of stats makes it viable in almost every deck, save Miracle Rogue.

Sen'jin Shieldmasta has very few direct counters. While the Black Knight is designed to deal with it, opponents are essentially trading a six mana card to deal with a four mana card. It works, but it's inefficient. Priests can also drop Shadow Word: Pain to quickly remove it, but it's admittedly rare to see Anduin Wrynn on the ladder, as priests are generally not favored by top players. Druids have access to Starfall and Starfire which each deal five damage to a target, but neither are commonly in use right now. Beyond those cards, there isn't really a whole lot that will destroy a Sen'jin Shieldmasta conveniently. He's a solid play against common decks like Warlock Zoo, Miracle Rogue, Druid Token, Paladin Aggro, and more.

More importantly, Sen'jin Shieldmasta boasts arguably the most fun entry sound in the game, shouting "Taz'dingo!" upon being played. If you're looking for a reliable wall that won't cost you a single bit of dust, consider tossing this troll into your deck.

Hearthstone Tips From Those Who Build And Play Decks Better

We are way hooked on the digital card game Hearthstone. And we want to get better. So we asked the folks at Blizzard to come drop some knowledge and give us tips on building and playing decks in their fiendishly addictive game.

Making Your First DeckBuilding a deck can be stressful, especially if you're left wondering "what do?" when staring at your collection. Deck building, how does it work?
Here are some tips for building decks:

1. Focus on a theme

The types of decks you can create are virtually endless, so it's good to know what kind of deck you want to play before you start building. If you want a fast, aggressive ("rush") deck, stick to efficient, high-damage minions. Include minions with Charge and spells that deal damage directly to your opponent.

If a slow and careful "control" deck is more your style, include healing and taunt minions. The taunt minions force your opponent to attack them before they can take a swing at you, and the healing minions help restore some health you (or your other minions) might have lost.

2. Have 5–10 early game cards.

If you get behind in the early game, it's tough to get the upper hand again. Having 5–10 cards that cost 1–2 mana and make sense to play on the first two turns can help avoid this. These are usually minions or spells that can remove your opponent's early minions.

3. Have 5–10 late game cards

Most decks can benefit from solid late-game/higher cost cards. Even for rush-themed decks, something aggressive like Argent Commander can make sense, whereas a control deck might do well to include something like Sunwalker.
Card drawing can also be useful in the late game but remember a minion that takes 2 cards to kill is better than drawing 2 cards because if your opponent doesn't have the cards to kill it you are way ahead.

4. Play mostly minions

If you play a minion and your opponent can deal with it, then you end up even. However, if you play a minion and your opponent can't deal with it, then you are ahead on the game board. Once you are ahead on the board you can start making favorable trades or smashing your opponent directly. This makes minions more important than spells which kill minions.

When first building decks, include 20 or more minions. Later you might break this rule with specific spell focused decks.

5. Improve the deck over time

Remember, this is a learning process; you're going to win some and lose some. Don't change your deck after just one game—pay attention to what cards worked out well over the course of several. Then, go back over the deck and make changes based on what you learned.

Playing your new deck1. Start with cheap minions
2. Spend your mana
3. Think twice before making a play
4. A clear board is a happy board
5. Don't play too many minions.
6. Card drawing is for late game

7. Hero power

Lastly, Even the most experienced players don't win all of their games.
Relax and have fun, switch decks sometimes, experiment, learn, enjoy!
