Hearthstone Naxxramas Reveals Continue

Curse of Naxxramas, the first Adventure mode content to come to Blizzard’s Hearthstone, is expected to arrive this summer. Blizzard has continued to tease the set by revealing cards slowly. Today, the big reveal is a new Mage secret – Duplicate!

When two Leper Gnomes just isn’t enough, there’s Duplicate. Let’s not even talk about the Mana Wyrms.

Also recently revealed is the Shaman card Rebirth, which will allow players to take advantage of a variety of cards that already exist and the pile of deathrattle cards found in Naxxramas.

It is wise of you to choose Hearthstone Legend Rank at this site if you are a fan of Hearthstone.

Basic Test on Hearthstone Card’s Value

Sometimes when you watch professional Hearthstone players talking about “value”, or “this card is valuable” and the like, you may be hard to understand what they mean, and how to judge a card is valuable or not.

The most obvious feature of Hearthstone’s entourage is its value. Any followers have three numbers, which are attack, blood volume and mana cost. The most important and prior factor determines a card’s value is that its value is worth the consumption. At the present, the typical feature is that the mana cost is 2:1.

For example, if a follower cost 3 mana, the card should at least have 6 numerical (regardless of life or attact) to meet the consumption. We usually call this “basic testing”. Because the card’s text is always ignored, its numerical is considered to be the basic (or basis) state.

If a follower pass the basic test, it is valuable for us, not vice versa. Those test cards that have passed the basic test by 2:1 ratio will be thought to be of high value, because they have more than average value under the same consumption. That’s why people always prefer Chillwind Yeti who have 9 numerical (4/5), but only cost 4 mana.

Catch Last Chance to Get The Black Temple-themed Card Back

Season 2 of ranked play in Hearthstone will come to a conclusion at the end of this month. The reward for participation in season 2 is the Black Temple-themed card back, seen above. You only need to hit rank 20 before June 1 to earn the skin, a relatively easy feat for most players -- losses don't cause you to lose ranking until you've surpassed rank 20.

The top players of the season may qualify to compete in the Americas Qualifier Tournament, the winners of which will move on to compete at BlizzCon. Hearthstone Legend Rank can be found at this site!

Mage – Deal 16 Damage At Turn 2

The Mage deals 16 damage at turn 2 is really aggressive.  Here we will offer you a perfect game starting of Mage, check the screenshot below!

The Mage is going second, so the process is as follows:

1. Mage play Mana Wymn at the first turn;

2. Warlock use Hero Power;

3. At the second turn, Mage play the combo: Sorcerer's Apprentice + The Coin + Frostbolt + 2*Ice Lance, so the Mana Wymn becomes 5/3, therefore the Mage can deal 16 damage in this turn.

Well, since the Mage got this perfect starting, I guess the Warlock is dead meat, there is no way to turn the table, what do you think?

Count How Many Cards You Have on Hand Quickly

Counting every single card would be an annoying thing for everyone, especially when you are playing handlock style or Miracle Rogue and you should always keep your eye on the cards held in your hand to prevent them from being discarded. Recently, a Hearthstone fan shared a sparking idea to help you count cards in hand quickly. Details are shown below:

Case 10 cards: Look at the left card of your hand. Only if you have 10 cards the mana symbol of that card is below the board.

Case 9 cards: Look at the triangle formed by the left bottom corner of your hero and the two mana symbols of the cards below it.

Case 8 cards: Look at the line between the left bottom corner of your hero and the mana symbol of the card below it.

Case 7 cards: should not be a problem to find out. Don’t count, just see it.

New Rebirth Card Unveiled On May 22

The latest card revealed from Hearthstone's upcoming Curse of Naxxramas set is a new shaman spell: Rebirth. Rebirth destroys a minion before returning it to full health, a spell that will play well with the myriad of new minions with Deathrattle. Rebirth turns any minion's Deathrattle into an on-demand ability for 2 mana -- and puts it back onto the field to be used again. Rebirth could be a terrifying spell even with pre-existing Deathrattle minions such as the Abomination or Sylvanas Windrunner. It could also be used aggressively -- for example, against someone who made the mistake of playing the previously-revealed Anub'ar Ambusher. By destroying your opponent's Ambusher, you could potentially force a far more dangerous minion back into their hand as a delay tactic.

Some of the current mechanics surrounding the way resurrections work (such as with Redemption) means this spell could even be used as a Silence effect. Buffs that have been cast on a minion do not reapply after death, meaning you can easily knock a druid's superpowered tank down to size. It should also be noted that Battlecry effects only apply when a minion is played directly from the hand -- resurrecting it with Rebirth is unlikely to allow that Battlecry to happen a second time.

Some players have voiced concern regarding this card's potential synergy with legendary Leeroy Jenkins. Leeroy is an extremely powerful card right now, particularly in decks that find ways to play it multiple times in a row. A rogue with a pair of Shadowsteps in their hand can attack with Leeroy three times in one turn -- 18 direct damage. More if they have Cold Blood in their hand. A shaman with Rebirth, if Leeroy's Charge ability triggers after resurrection, could now perform the same tactic.

Hobbs Priest Deck Construct a Priest Deck In a Different Way

Hobbs just constructed a Priest deck, using the Doomsayer at the early game in a different way.

General Strategy

Well, the general strategy of this deck is utilize the low mana cost and high HP of some minions, such as Doomsayer, Ancient Watcher, Shieldbearer, Lightwell, Nat Pagle, and Mogu’shan Warden etc, to cooperate with Priest’s expert spell cards – Silence, Divine Spirit and Inner Fire to create a powerful minion at the early game.

So here are the combos:

•Ancient Watcher + Silence/Ironbeak Owl
•Shieldbearer/Lightwell/Nat Pagle/Mogu’shan Warden + Divine Spirit + Inner Fire

Now take a look at the combo of Doomsayer, you can play the combo Doomsayer + Silence + Inner Fire to create a 7/7 minion at the early game.

Regarding the Faceless Manipulator, it's mainly used to copy the minion you created.

Ventrue Co.Mercenary
As for the Ventrue Co.Mercenary, the strategy is playing Silence to silence it. Of course, you can replace it with The Beast if you have this legendary card.
 Ysera
Given Ysera has 12 HP, so Ysera + Divine Spirit + Inner Fire is a great combo at the late game.

Hearthstone: Anub'ar Ambusher Joins Curse of Naxxramas Lineup

Curse of Naxxramas card preview is the creepy-crawly Anub'ar Ambusher. This rogue-only card has the text "Deathrattle: Return a friendly minion to your hand." That could be handy for recalling creatures with battlecries or frustrating if you have a bunch of buffed up beasties out. As with all Hearthstone cards, using the Anub'ar Ambusher to best effect will require some strategy.

As interesting as these tiny previews are, they still don't hint at a release date for Naxxramas beyond this summer. Hopefully we'll be seeing more than previews soon!

Pricing for Hearthstone’s First Expansion Leaked- Rumor

A number of Chinese websites reported on an image which seemed to contain the pricing for Hearthstone’s first expansion, The Curse of Naxxramas. Up until now, Blizzard has not revealed how the new content will be accessed and how much it will cost, so this may be the first look at the raw numbers. Before you get pumped up, remember that this is a rumor and every information contained in the leak is unconfirmed. With that in mind, let’s see what the fuss is all about.

The imagereveals the pricing and what each tier of the expansion will include. The first part of The Curse of Naxxramas, called Arachnid Quarter, will be free to everyone, and will include three bosses and four new cards. The second part, Plague Quarter has the same amount of content, but it is priced at 500 gold, or $9. This is where it all starts to seem a bit implausible, because each new tier from the third to the fifth is 500 gold more, or $9 more than the last. The Construct Quarter with four bosses and six cards costs 1,000 gold or $18, The Military Quarter with three bosses and five cards costs 1,500 gold or $27, and finally the Frostwyrm Lair with two bosses and six cards costs 2,000 gold or $36. Add all these prices up and we have a very expensive expansion for a free-to-play game: 5,000 gold or about $90.

The price seems to be a bit high, but the interpretation of the image may be a bit off. The prices might suggest that you can buy each tier for 500 gold or 9$, and the prices shown reflect what it would cost if you bought directly into the higher tiers, which should include all the others below it. The community isn’t very happy with that $90 price tag, but this leak could help Blizzard figure out what to ask for Hearthstone’s expansions in the future.

Blizzard has yet to make any comment on this (and they probably won't). “We haven’t announced anything just yet regarding pricing for Naxx. Once we have details to share, we’ll discuss them on official channels.” via community manager’s Christina Sims Twitter account.

Game of Thrones Hearthstone Deck Is Terrific

Excepting the editors who barricaded themselves in a supply room last week to escape its grasp, we've been playing a hell of a lot of Hearthstone in the office (Tim especially—read his new strategy column). And like so many other humans with televisions, we've been keeping up on Game of Thrones. What are the chances: someone on the internet took two things we like and put them together!

Reddit poster randomnate has designed a brilliant Hearthstone deck of GoT characters. They'd definitely destroy the game, but randomnate has carefully combined GoT logic with Hearthstone logic—Daenerys, for instance, summons three Dragon Eggs, 0/2 cards with a deathrattle which summons 5/5 dragons. Targaryen is so OP. Fans show their take on popular television series in different games. Interesting, right? You might love it. Hearthstone Updates Nerfs Unleash the Hounds Cards And other Fixes Tweaks

If you troll the Blizzard forums, you'd know earlier in the week rumblings started regarding an incoming nerf for the Unleash the Hounds card which you can see here to the right. If you've been playing ranked Hearthstone recently, you likely know Unleash the Hounds hunter decks all too well.

If not, the whole thing hinged on a very annoying combo that was really powerful for the mana required to have it go off. Essentially, a hunter would wait until you had some minions out then play Starving Buzzard and Unleash the Hounds. This gives them as many minions as you have, and card draw for that many minions.

At that point, there's tons of options for crazy tricks. They could toss out a Scavenging Hyena and sacrifice their hounds to your minions to make the hyena ridiculously huge. Also, alternatively, or in addition to, they could drop one (or more) Timber Wolf cards to buff all the hounds up, or get lucky with an Animal Companion and randomly summon Leokk for the same effect. Either way, it was nuts.

The reason the combo works so well is that it forces you to play hyper conservatively against hunters as soon as you reached turn four (or turn three if they have the coin) as the card draw alone was so powerful. Since Hearthstone is a game that's about summoning and playing minions, actively not summoning minions to avoid any kind of profitable unleashing of hounds wasn't much fun. So, Blizzard nerfed the combo a bit by increasing the mana cost of Unleash the Hounds by one, which gives players who are facing hunter one more turn before things get crazy.

Whether it makes much of a difference remains to be seen, as the combo is arguably just as good late game when you've got all sorts of mana to spare to play the cards you're getting off the crazy card draw. I'm just glad something is being done about it, as the metagame for those starting playing ranked was basically "How do I play around Unleash the Hounds" as the deck is/was so powerful and cost almost nothing to build.

Anyway, also in this new update is some stability fixes where Hearthstone was crashing when you played multi-ability druid cards, chat bubble positioning, and a tweak that changes where the larger versions of cards are displayed in relation to where your finger is on the iPad-specific side of things. Also they fixed that weird problem where returning minions to your opponent's minion to their hand would leave the card back just sort of hanging out in the play field. Overall a solid update you should grab right away if you're playing Hearthstone on your iPad. You can buy Hearthstone Rank here!

Is Hearthstone Pay-to-win?

Many games that fall into the free to play category also fall into the pay to win category -- which is to say that if you want to be able to play well, you'll wind up forking over some cash. It's a big frustration with free to play games which can easily wind up costing just as much -- or even more -- than games with an ordinary pricetag. So while we wondered whether we needed to sink money into buying more Hearthstone packs, we were glad to see many official sites had done a detailed examination of the advantage you get from buying cards in Hearthstone.

Though anyone interested in the economics of it should definitely read the entire article, the end result is that because there are many options to earn in-game gold to buy packs -- and because the best decks aren't necessarily built with all epic cards -- with some patience a casual player will catch up with a big spender. But, still, opening pack after pack of cards that has an appeal that has nothing to do with economics.

New Card Revealed – Deatch’s Bite

Team 5 has just revealed a new Warrior card rolling out with Hearthstone’s Curse of Naxxramas update this summer. Death’s Bite is a 4/2 weapon costing 4 mana – the interesting part is that, unlike any other weapon currently in the game, it has a Deathrattle: ‘Deal 1 damage to all minions’. The potential for this card is interesting, especially as Warriors often use a similar effect – Whirlwind – to activate their own card’s Enrages.

The original Death’s Bite was an epic 2H axe dropping from Kel’thuzad in – where else? – Naxxramas, in case you were wondering!

Uther Lightbringer, The Paladin, Deck Building

The legendary Uther Lightbringer was the first Paladin of the Knights of the Silver Hand and a champion of the Light, sworn to defend the Alliance of Lordaeron from any potential threat. Wise, pious, and a beacon of hope to his allies, Uther is regarded as one of the greatest knights to ever live.

The kingdom of Stormwind was once a land of peace and prosperity. The age of tranquility came to a sudden end when orcs swarmed into Azeroth from the Dark Portal—a magical gate that connected the world of Azeroth with the orcish homeworld of Draenor. The Orcs assaulted Stormwind’s kingdom, eager to plunder and claim its lands for their own. This was the start of what is now called the First War.

The clerics of Northushire took up arms to defend their lands from the orcish invasion, but it became evident that it would take incredible efforts to defeat the evils that threatened them. Their holy order of clerics took great losses; as strong as they were in spirit, they lacked the formal martial training of knights and had little understanding of the art of war.

Archbishop Alonsus Faol formed a new order that would combine the restorative and destructive powers of the Light with the strict martial training of the knights. Archbishop Faol chose his apprentice Uther to be the first of this new order. These holy knights became known as Paladins, with Uther being appointed the First Paladin.

The order started by Archbishop Alonsus Faol was known as the Order of the Silver Hand. The Archbishop recruited knights willing to learn how to wield the Light and clerics ready to take up arms for their noble cause. The Paladin’s potent combination of fighting prowess and holy powers made them incredibly formidable opponents in battle, and Uther was the greatest among them.

After the First War, many of the survivors of Stormwind traveled to Lordaeron to seek aid and succor from King Terenas Menethil II. The leader of Lordaeron formed alliances between the human kingdoms to unite them against the orcish Horde that swarmed over the lands.

The orcs assaulted numerous cities and key points throughout the Eastern Kingdoms, with the Alliance doing their best to try and stop the them. However, not all human kingdoms within Lordaeron rallied to the Alliance’s cause. The Kingdom of Alterac, led by Lord Perenolde, chose to instead strike a deal with the Horde, fearing that the Horde would emerge victorious over the newfound Alliance once the smoke had cleared. This treachery caused numerous problems for the Alliance, and led to an attempt on Uther’s life.

The Horde’s forces were slowly weakening against the growing Alliance. In a mighty push, the Alliance assaulted a major Horde fortress located in the Burning Steppes. Uther and his Paladins were on the front lines in the battle of Blackrock Spire, and he earned the honorific “Lightbringer” after the battle.

With the capture of the Horde Warchief, the Alliance pressed on to the orc’s last stand: the Dark Portal itself. General Turalyon led the Alliance’s charge against the orcs at the Dark Portal in what was considered the fiercest battle of the Second War. The Azerothian side of the Dark Portal was destroyed, thanks in part to the bravery and skill of Uther Lightbringer and the Order of the Silver Hand.

After the Second War, Uther continued to bravely serve the Alliance and its people, mentoring new Paladins to the Order and serving as a shining example to aspiring knights and clerics throughout the Eastern Kingdoms. Uther took on the task of tutoring King Terenas’s talented son, Prince Arthas Menethil, in the ways of the Paladin. Arthas and Uther trained together for years and grew as close as a family.

As the Third War began, Uther’s assistance was requested and he met with the young Jaina Proudmoore. Jaina brought dire news—the mysterious plague that was ravaging the kingdom was turning the infected into the undead Scourge, and Hearthglen was under attack from the seemingly endless army of undead victims that had fallen to this horrific illness. Uther and his Paladins came just in time to help Jaina and Arthas, saving Hearthglen with their combined efforts.

Determined to save his kingdom, Arthas pressed on to Stratholme, but it was too late—the townsfolk had consumed tainted grain, the mechanism for quickly and efficiently spreading the plague throughout the kingdom, and would soon become the Scourge. Arthas ordered Uther and the Knights of the Silver Hand to destroy the town and the innocent people within. Uther adamantly refused the orders of the young Prince, telling Arthas he would not follow such an order—even if Arthas was the king himself. Furious with Uther’s defiance, Arthas accused Uther of treason and relieved Uther from command of the Knights of the Silver Hand and ordered those loyal to Lordaeron to join him in purging Stratholme of the impending evil. Uther took the Paladins that remained loyal to him and left Stratholme, abandoning Arthas to his barbaric actions.

Uther informed King Terenas Menethil of his son’s inhumane actions in Stratholme, and much to the sorrow of the King, they agreed that Arthas’ judgment, and perhaps sanity, was wavering. Terenas sent an emissary to recall Arthas’ expedition in Northrend and order their return to the Kingdom of Lordaeron.

Arthas returned some time later, to the joy and celebration of Lordaeron’s townsfolk. However, Uther and the townsfolk were all shocked as Arthas drew the cursed Runeblade, Frostmourne, and slew his father in the Lordaeron throne room.

Uther had lost his king and one of his closest friends. He vowed to personally guard the king’s remains, which were placed in a ceremonial urn within Andorhal. There would be no safe haven for Uther and the remaining Order of the Silver Hand. Arthas, now a death knight, commanded his undead forces and swarmed the town, intent on taking Terenas’s urn for their own dark purposes. Uther would not back down from the impossible odds, bravely and defiantly standing toe to toe against the death knight to defend Terenas’ remains in a battle for the ages. Uther met his end at the hands of his former pupil, whom he once loved and cared for like his own son.

Uther’s tomb can be found in the Western Plaguelands, a shining beacon of hope in a land once overcome by darkness. His legacy lives on through the actions and teachings of the Paladins, Azeroth’s brave defenders of the Light.

Uther’s legend lives on in Hearthstone, and his legacy of the Light (and how to swing it) shines on in every Paladin today. One of the Paladin’s staple abilities, the Blessing of Protection, erects a Divine Shield around a minion, protecting it from a single source of damage. Protect your minions from even the most devastating damage with a Blessing of Protection and they’ll thank you for it!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this look into Uther’s history and his role in Hearthstone. What class would you like to see featured next? You can buy Hearthstone Rank at this site if you need!

Unleash the Hunter Costs Going Up to 3 from 2

In what historians will come to remember as the single greatest act of justice ever done for mankind, Team Five is upping the mana cost of Unleash the Hounds from two to three. The original remake of UTH set the spell’s mana cost to four, before being reduced to the two some time later. Hopefully three will prove to be just right.

Regardless of your feelings on the spell, this change will very much revolutionize the modern Hunter combos (UTH + Starving Buzzard and UTH + Scavenging Hyena) pushing their costs up to five, respectively. Community Manager Zeriyah explains the details of the change below. While it remains to be seen whether or not this change will truly knock Hunter down from on high, we, the small, non-Hunter folk can rejoice at the benevolence of our masters.

The Making of Hearthstone: Pen and Paper

Work was proceeding apace on Blizzard Entertainment's collectible card video game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft when the development team behind the game was nearly dismantled, Kotaku reports.

Another game at Blizzard needed work, so Team 5, the group of developers working on Hearthstone, was pared down to just two members: lead designer Eric Dodds and  Ben Brode.
"We were basically in a world of, 'What do we think the design of the game should be?' That's not a place you spend that much time in traditionally as a designer," Dodds said.

"For us that meant trying tons of different ideas. We spent a lot of time with paper/pen prototypes to try and figure out what this game was going to be and it was great."
According to executive producer Hamilton Chu, the duo "took those funny drawings, cut them into cards and tried a whole lot of bad ideas on the way to some great ideas." Hearthstone's Arena mode with asynchronous card drafts grew out of that era.

Check out our site for more items for buying Hearthstone rank to enjoy playing Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, which is available now on Mac, Windows PC, iOS for iPad and is in development for Android and iPhone, in action.

Hearthstone Druid Deck With Matchups For Different Classes

After playing some matches, I shared my Druid winrate with all classes below. The most classes I played against in ladder are Druid and Hunter, and it works well against most Hunter, but only 58% winrate when vs. Hunter. It also works well against Shaman and Mage – 100% winrate, but is weak to Priest and Rogue, because Priest is good at healing his minions and is quite strong in late game and miracle Rogue is likely to win the match if she grabs Gadgetzan Auctioneer in mid game.

Combos
Argent Squire + Blood Knight: you can create a 6/6 and 1/1 with only 4 mana cost and if you grab Innervate in the opening hand, you can squeeze them in the first round. Additionally, Blood Knight is a good solution for zoo decks as well.
Violet Teacher + Mark of the Wild: only 6 mana cost, you can create a 4/6 + 2/2 on the board. Compared with Druid of the Claw (4/6 taunt), it costs only one mana more.

Force of Nature + Savage Roar: it is a quite common burst combo for Druid – 9 damage with only 8 mana cost. Either way, Leeroy Jenkins + Savage Roar 10 damage with only 7 mana cost. With massive effective burst combos, it is not hard for you to end matches in mid stage.

Gadgetzan Auctioneer: it plays as a card engine when coupled with your cheap spells in mid game – sounds like miracle Rogue! But don’t drop it naked on the board; if possible, try to draw two or more cards with it.

Other cardsInspired by CN vs. EU tournament, I like to cast Mark of the Wild on Keeper of the Grove to prevent it from being targeted by Stampeding Kodo. Since Hunter is so popular in ladder, Ooze always can destroy Hunter’s weapon in critical matches. And this deck cycles with Gnomish Inventor and Ancient of Lord in mid game, and if possible, you will benefit from Gadgetzan Auctioneer much, so it won’t be a dead deck.

Replacement
Cenarius isn’t a necessary card, although it gains your board much in late game. Sometimes, you don’t have enough mana to drop this guy in mid stage. you can replace it with Argent Commander or Starfall.

Tournament Update: PVP Live’s Tavern Takeover Series 2014

Now that Dreamhack Bucharest has come and gone, we can begin to look forward to what May will have in store for the Hearthstone tournament scene. One of the first entries out of the gate is Tavern Takeover Series 2014, set to debut on Saturday, May 10, 2014.

This tournament will take place as an eight person online invitational, fully streamed at PVP Live’s Twitch Page. The stakes – a $3,000 prize pool. Who are the contestants?

•Ekop
•Kungen
•Puffin
•Realz
•Reynad
•Savjz
•ThatsAdmirable
•Trump

Many of these competitors are household names at this point, appearing in various tournaments and series over the last few months. If you haven’t developed a soft spot in your heart for any of these guys yet, maybe one of them will takeover.

All kidding aside, the format of this tournament will employ the brutal single elimination style, although we’re not yet sure how many games will comprise each set.

Fully licensed by Blizzard, I’m looking forward to seeing how this tournament will be produced, as I’m hoping that with each major tournament that goes down, the community gets better and better at refining the process. Or, you know, Observation Mode.

The “series” part of the title of this tournament means that this will be only the first of many to come in 2014, so you’ll want to stay tuned to PVP Live for future offerings beyond May 10th.
